I researched a lot of drones before buying. My requirements were – at least 1080p video, compact and lightweight, decent fly time, stability in the air against moderate winds, GPS/GLONASS, and modes such as Follow, RTH, etc. I started with the sub-£200 but quickly discarded them. I was going to settle for DJI Spark but then decided that I would up my antenna a little. I didn’t want to go overboard. Finally it was choice between Parrot Anafi and DJI Mavic Air. I chose the Mavic Air because it offered obstacle avoidance and Anafi was too exposed (lots of vents, motor coils exposed, etc.) The price difference of about £100 was nullified when buying the Anafi’s in-App purchases (follow, point of interest, etc.) So here are the good and bad things:The Good: Very easy to fly. I read the manuals and I was up and flying decently in 30 minutes. No great learning curve. No fiddling with calibrations and alignments. It is very compact and light – fits my palm. I can easily carry it around. By the same evening, I had posted my first video – very crude and basic – but WTF? It was my very first attempt with any drone. The drone holds very steady high up even with moderate winds. The 4K video is excellent. The Bad: It is not cheap by any standards. Although the battery life is estimated at 21 minutes, it is no where close. One will have to turn off all collision sensors, not use sport mode, etc. and then expect to get about 15 minutes. With my novice flying experience, I could just get 8 minutes or so.Also the DJI Go 4 app. We cannot get into the App and do settings unless we turn on the Controller and Drone too and connect all. It would have been nice to do offline settings and once the drone/controller is connected, the App and Drone would sync together. But then, once one has mastered and set everything, we are not required to make frequent changes.I have docked off one point because of this.Tip: Buy the Flymore Combo because believe me, we will require extra batteries – which are £65 each. Also we get the Battery Charging Hub, extra propellers, carry case (limited usability), etc.

Most of the pros and cons have been covered but here’s a small selection of my impressions:Combo PackFirst test flight. The drone itself is very high quality and sturdy, after updating all the firmware the first tiny garden test flight had me smiling from ear to ear, it’s so easy to fly and very responsive, the controller with a smart phone attached is very easy to configure and fast, I took a small sample of video and uploaded to my PC and played it back…..Just WOW! – jaw dropping quality, I am a pro photographer / videographer with high end equipment and this put my 5 grand pro Canon video camera to shame, the detail and dynamic range is amazing.4 bay battery charger is superb and fast.To get the best out of this drone you will need to configure a few settings, easy to find on YouTube, once configured and camera set to manual it just went from amazing to outstandingly amazing, my flying skills lack at the moment but getting better with each flight and gaining confidence.Pros:Jaw dropping video quality (especially in manual mode).Very easy to fly and can be tweaked to fly even smoother to your preferences.Controls are fast and responsive.Gimbal is very impressive, watching the drone being knocked around in the wind yet the video stays smooth.Using smart phone interface is so well thought out and easy to access everything.2 step compass calibration dance is easy and fast.My first crash I clipped a brick wall yet no damage, just a few scratches on the props but kept flying fine. There’s so many more things I could list but they are all in the specs.Cons.Combo Pack cases are rubbish and had to buy a proper all in one shoulder case.Sits quite low so you need a landing / take off pad of flat surface, even in low grass it’s a Flymo.Multiple batteries are an absolute MUST, I have 3 and that’s not enough.Needs ND / Polarising filters for high grade footage (not supplied).Controller is Micro USB where as the drone is USB C.The Cons don’t bother me but be aware you will need to buy extras. The main major problem I am having which isn’t DJI’s fault is it’s REALLY hard to find safe flying zones, I’m not getting as much use out of the drone as a result as the Drone Code really limits you unless you want boring shots of fields! But zero regrets buying this and the Combo Pack is a must, you will regret just getting the standard drone single battery version.

The drone started loosing communication with the controller within 200m, triggered return to home within 500m. Tried several times to se if was my location. It seemed to be a better signal if you have total line of sight. Compared to my mavic pro I would say this is a toy I suggest you test it thoroughly within the accepted return period.

Upgraded from a much simpler drone for the purpose of aerial photography. Drone very easy to fly plus has lots of detection systems to prevent collisions. Only flown a few times so far, but video quality excellent , and drones is a stable platform for image capture. Features when used with app on phone allow multiple flight options and mapping. Buying refurbished has been trouble free and item looks barely used. Highly recommended if you want a drone with this level of ability
