Description

Smart Tv’s aren’t new on the block, they’ve hit the peak of their popularity in the last few years. Due to Personal Assistants such as Alexa and Google Assistant, the possibility to run your home fully ‘smart’ is now more possible than ever before. This time, JVC have partnered with Amazon to produce what could be the Smartest TV yet. We have some reservations, but let’s see how the review pans out. Afterall, JVC can make sturdy televisions, the only potential issue being that their TV sets never set the world alight. All rise Sony & Samsung for that!

With this Television, the operating system is delivered by Amazon, partnered up with Alexa. This will enable you to get all of the Smart features right out of the box, in addition to Amazon Music & Movies. Perfect for a cinema night in! The Price is fantastic, with £299 for a 49″ Television one of the best Tv deals that we’ve seen.

It comes in three sizes also, so if the 49″ isn’t right for you, there’s the option of a 40″ model, or 55″ if you need something on the bigger side.

Design & Quality

This television is a budget television, but this doesn’t mean that Design wasn’t cared for. It’s a simple, yet effective style. As with most television sets, you get a Black bezel, but with a silver metal stand holding the Tv upright. These colours contrast quite well! The Words JVC separate the stand and the start of the television screen, it’s only a small logo & it’s nice and neatly placed.

The remote control is also comfortable, although on the long side. It bares great resemblence to the Amazon Fire Tv Remote, which isn’t that surprising when you consider Amazon helped make it. The remote for this television has a built in alexa button, allowing you voice control with a single click. In addition to this, there are buttons for Prime Video, Netflix, Live TV & Apps.

Performance

It’s hard to compare this Television with another, as there’s no other Television that Amazon have inspired to create. They played with a Toshiba device previously, but this was aimed at being a cheap Tv. The JVC model we are reviewing today has to offer performance, in addition to a good pricing structure.

It’s a 4K HDR Television, supporting HDR10. That’s quite impressive spec already, for a Tv that’s sub £300. When you think of a TV this price, it’s probably best not to expect perfect colours. However, Amazon counter this fact by offering a stunning operating system, with one-click access to leading apps such as Netflix & Amazon Prime Video.

More than a Television

If you’re considering this Television, more great news is the added features you’ll receive thanks to Amazon’s involement with the set. The JVC Fire TV Edition comes with 4gb of memory, meaning you can download apps and play games from the Amazon Store. Perfect, for when there’s nothing to watch.

In addition to this, the Smart Assistant comes into it’s own. If you have any smart devices around the house, you can ask your television to activate them. So far, I’ve asked my television to turn on the Dogs water bowl AND put the kettle on. It’s a bit surreal. (I always use it for controlling music too, but that’s a given).

Conclusion

The JVC Fire TV Edition is an excellent range, with an even better price. You’ll struggle to find a 4K HDR TV for this price, but you will also receive the extra benefits of the Amazon Fire TV Experience. We really like this television and we can’t fault the price.
