Adidas Box Hog 2 Review

When it comes to boxing, having light footwork is an essential aspect for any fighter to possess.

The speed of a boxer’s feet compensates for weaker punches that are thrown, by being able to move around the target and land multiple punches with the opponent not being able to properly defend themself.

Footwork in boxing is a make-or-break ability in a fight, without this, you may end up hitting the deck a lot sooner than expected.

ALL boxers, whether you’re amateur or professional need something on their feet which can give them stability, as well as the flexibility to be able to move freely and in any direction.

Very few people outside of the boxing circle understand that boxers need a specific type of boot that matches their needs inside & outside the ring.

The Adidas Box Hog 2 was made by one of the most trusted brands on the planet, especially when it comes to their athletic equipment.

The well-known company Adidas are the masterminds behind this boot, giving a lot of people reassurance due to the companies size and reputation.

Features

The most important part of ANY boot is the sole, and especially in boxing, the sole of the boot needs a lot of grip for the canvas you box on.

With a slippery sole, boxing would be a nightmare and would turn into an episode of Dancing on Ice. The Adidas Boxing Hog 2 has a “Gum Rubber Outer Sole” – providing the user with an extraordinary amount of traction, aiding the boxer’s movements within the ring.

The Box Hog 2 also features a highly durable, single-layer synthetic material which allows the boxer’s feet to breathe whilst also keeping them cool and dry throughout the length of the match.

It’s important for a boxer’s feet to breathe, without the correct footwear a boxer’s feet would get very uncomfortable very quickly.

The Synthetic material on the boot is very light, aiding the boxer’s movements inside and outside the ring, which also ensures that the boxer’s feet are comfortable.

With these features from the Box Hog 2, the boxer wearing them has the ability to deliver a nimble and swift-footed performance with nothing slowing down their feet.

Why Choose the Adidas Box Hog 2?

The Box Hog 2 is the perfect boot for boxers of any level (Amateur or Professional) that plan to keep doing the sport that they love without having to worry about the most important feature on their body, their feet.

After all, in boxing, EVERYTHING comes from the ground up.

The Box Hog 2 offers a good amount of ankle support, allowing the boxer to move freely with minimal setbacks.

The material the Box Hog 2 has been created with is a very new mesh style from the previous version “Box Hog” (being the best selling in Europe), supporting the boxer’s feet in breathing.

There are 2 styles which come with the Box Hog 2 – you can either have them as a “High-top” or a “Low-cut” – with the Low-cut design most people find that they are more comfortable, being with how most boots are designed in today’s world, but they do not offer as much ankle support as the High-top design.

In the boxing ring, ankle support is one of the highest priorities that’s the easiest to combat. After all, you wouldn’t want to experience David Haye’s injury against Tony Bellew which ultimately ended the fight due to a ruptured Achilles tendon.

We aren’t blaming his boot manufacturer as the sole cause for his injury, before our courtcase is booked, ha!

The fact that these boots are light is what makes it a top pick for boxers of all levels. Being light-footed is one of the most important rules in boxing, without this you’re going to get hit – a LOT – and the Box Hog 2 aids you in honing your lightfoot skills, and these boots have been specifically designed to be lighter than normal boots and trainers that have been made.

If they had the weight of a normal boot the boxer wouldn’t be able to move so effortlessly (or so it seems to spectators!). When training for boxing, your feet should always feel like you’re barefoot in order to be at its optimal speed – the Box Hog 2’s will give you this feeling!

Adidas Box Hog 2 Review – Are they worth it?

In my opinion, The High-top Box Hog 2’s are perfect for moving inside and outside the ring – but be careful to only wear these on the correct floors (foam mats, wooden floor or carpet).

I personally used my first pair to run outside on the pavement in different weather conditions, which caused the boots to degrade at a much more rapid rate. I do not recommend that you do this, as you’ll burn through boots!

Adidas never fails at creating high-quality products.

I’ve been boxing for 3 years, and I’ve only ever worn out 1 pair of the Adidas Box Hog 2’s, and I still use my second pair to this day! These boots have always felt comfortable for me whether I’m fighting or training. I believe they have also aided me in working on my footwork speed and movement due to them being much more lightweight than normal trainers.

Adidas have truly nailed their design with these boxing boots – a lightweight touch with the ability to hold up well in durability in general boxing workouts.

The Box Hog 2 really makes footwork feel like a breeze whilst training, which makes you feel like a modern version of Muhammad Ali!

Remember – Float like a butterfly, Sting like a bee – His hands can’t hit what his eyes can’t see!

Immediate delivery in great condition. I was worried they might be juniors at 1st because they were so light, but they are the right size & fit just fine.

I felt these shoes did not give my ankle any support whatsoever as they are a thin fabric.I also found the sole to the a thin shape and I’d be worried av bout going over on my ankle.I ended up buying the Adidas Speedex 18s instead. Much better support.
